A glass extension to this Edwardian villa left a tricky and highly visible ‘corridor’ between the front and back garden. The design resolved this issue, creating a tranquil space with an identity of its own. Contemporary, trellis screening planted with lush green climbers and an elongated raised planter frame the new outdoor dining area. Nearby, a large reflecting water bowl, nestled in planting and overarched by a lilac tree provide a tranquil feature that can be enjoyed from both inside and out. Pockets of small but dense planting give a dramatic effect while minimising the maintenance.
